Babel - Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of terms

By installing or using the Babel Chrome extension (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please uninstall and discontinue use.

2. Description of the service

Babel is a browser extension that translates text in-place and generates AI prompts using an external AI provider routed through the Babel backend. Access to the Service may be subject to daily usage limits and paid plans.

3. Accounts and eligibility

The Service does not use password-based accounts. It uses an anonymous device identifier to enforce usage limits. You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to purchase a paid plan.

4. Paid plans, subscriptions, and boosts

Paid plans, subscriptions, and one-time boost packs are offered through our payment provider, Gumroad. Subscription payments recur automatically on the billing cycle shown at checkout until cancelled. Boost packs are one-time purchases and are not recurring.

Prices are shown at checkout and may change over time. Any changes apply to future charges only; your current billing cycle keeps the price you agreed to.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel a subscription at any time through your Gumroad customer portal. Cancellation stops future recurring charges; access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.

6. Fair use and abuse

You agree not to misuse the Service, including attempted abuse of usage limits, credential sharing beyond the intended limits, resale without permission, or any unlawful use. We reserve the right to suspend access and prevent abuse of the daily limits.

7. Data loss prevention is not a guarantee

The built-in Data Loss Prevention (DLP) feature performs best-effort pattern matching and does not guarantee that no sensitive data will ever be transmitted. You are responsible for the content you send and must not transmit sensitive, confidential, or personal data that could identify you or a third party, on any plan, in any mode, over any network.

8. Intellectual property

The Babel software, extension code, and branding are owned by Sollemdev. You are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We make no guarantee that translations, prompts, or the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your particular requirements.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sollemdev shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law of the operator's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.
